Clixsense – How to Get Paid To View Ads

Program Overview

The internet is chock full of sites claiming to allow you to make easy money. All you have to do is browse around sites, fill out surveys and click on ads. Is it really as easy as they say it is? Let's find out.

What Are We To Believe?

Is this going to be like an easy cushy job where we stop at websites click on ad banners and leave. Move on to the next page and do more of the same. I do this all day and then wait for my paycheck to come rolling in. That's a pretty sweet job. I just read click and move on to the next interesting project.

It's more than browsing and viewing stuff that interests you. You might have to do a few other things like:

  • fill out tedious surveys
  • click on annoying ad copy
  • watch meaningless ads

You can also get paid to play games on certain sites or watch some short movie clips. Either way you will end up stuck watching some online garbage that you have no interest in and it's pretty difficult to earn any decent money playing games. Don't believe the hype. I have found one site that will allow you to earn points just browsing the web but doing it from their browser. It's called Swagbucks.

You earn points which in turn you can cash in for an Amazon gift card or for Paypal cash. I use Swagbucks to pick up some extra cash along the way when I'm not too busy. It is one of the more legit sites out there.

Are Viewing Ads and Click Sites A Scam?

Some are and some aren't but the majority are legit programs and companies. The problem is, it's really slow accumulating money. The second complaint from a lot of users is the payment threshold. It can take a very long time to get paid.

Here is what's available in my account and what they pay:

For a survey site as you can see it's not that bad. If you are sitting at home just watching a sporting event then why not click on some ads or fill out some surveys and make a little cash. You're at least getting some compensation for your time.

Clicking on ads is going to take a little more work with Clixsense. This is where the slow part comes in. You are rewarded with $0.001 per click. That is painfully low.

Here is a screenshot of some of the ads I've clicked on and others still available to me. My advice is to just click on the ad and never sign up to the corresponding program. Just about every second click took me to a site called TimeBucks. It's just another PTC site. I don't have the time to waste and to keep signing up to multiple programs. Just stick to visiting and clicking.

screenshot of what you can earn

At 0.001 per click it would take you approximately a minute to earn a penny. I'm assuming just seconds to complete your click. Let's do some quick math here and it's not that hard. If Clixsense is paying you 1 cent a minute, you are then making 60 cents in an hour. That's it, well below minimum wage.

Is your time only worth 0.60 an hour?

I know mine is worth a lot more than that but when combined with filling out surveys Clixsense still clocks in as one of the better programs out there.

Methods To Earn With Clixsense

You can also play games and earn money besides PTC and filling out surveys. They have another feature called Clixgrid where you have 30 chances a day just by clicking on a square and visiting the sponsor's website. If you click on a winning square you make $10. I will say it again, refrain from signing up to any of these other offers as some of the sites look sketchy. Just stick to the program and you'll be fine. Clixsense claims to have paid out over 22 million dollars since 2007. They are obviously very popular with the work from home crowd.

The other way that Clixsense allows you to compound earnings is through their referral program. To qualify you need to upgrade from free member to premium. That costs $17 for the year. If you like recruiting people and talking up programs then this option is going to work for you. Here is what you can earn with the Clixsense affiliate program.

If you have no desire to actively seek out and refer people then I would just stick with the FREE program. I personally like, be your own boss and work from home programs. This is a very good one to join and I recommend it.

Other Programs To Try

Swagbucks - this is another must join program for earning gift cards from Amazon and Paypal Cash. Answer poll questions, take surveys and surf the web to make easy money.

Cashcrate - this to me is another worthwhile site to join and make some extra cash while you are between jobs and on your computer anyway. Complete offers, take surveys, shop online and make money.

My Final Take

I like the affiliate marketing business model. While you can make a few bucks clicking on ads and filling out online surveys, there is a better and more lucrative way to build a business online and also generate a consistent monthly cash flow.

You can read about how I did it right here.

All that you really lack is a starting point and training. I would add some good training. The place I recommend you go for that training is an online learning school called Wealthy Affiliate. It will teach you all you need to know about affiliate marketing and they are excellent at it having been in business for well over 10 years.

They offer step by step training and an abundance of relevant up to date online business instructon. Every week they also offer live webinars to ensure they stay current with what's happening in the industry.
They also have a huge community who you can turn to for support and ask questions immediately on a live chat platform. You are never stuck or left alone with unanswered questions or concerns that you have.

If you have any further questions, comments or feedback just drop them in the box below. Thanks for stopping by and reading my review of Clixsense.

  1. Hi Peter,
Thank you for the article. I’m just starting out with my site so I’m going to check out some of the programs you mentioned in the article. The money might not be great but for someone new to online work, it’s better than nothing.

    • Hi Chris, it’s important to remember that you can make money from these programs but you won’t make a consistent monthly income because it pays pennies and slow to collect. Good luck with your journey and thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  2. Thanks Peter for these great recomendations and advice on online business. I do agree with you that affiliate marketing is a lucrative business and WA is a powerful online business and school that engages and trains people to set up online businesses for the themselves. Thanks alot

  3. Great review you have written here. I can tell that wasting time filling out surveys is NOT the way to go! I also like the alternative you put up on this post. Looks like it will take work but you won’t waste your time doing the same thing that doesn’t work.

  4. I’m always skeptic about sites that claim to ‘earn money easy and fast’. But clicking ads for 0.00.. is very hard work and I imagine it could take some time before you actually get paid.
How long would it take to get paid using ClixSense?

  5. I have often wondered about the opportunities for making money online. You answered that question for me. There is money to be made but not by clicking on ads and filling out surveys. Ouch! Solid perspective Peter. Thanks for the insight.

  6. If I go the rest of my life without seeing another tedious survey I won’t feel like I’m missing much. I can’t STAND those things! Our time is worth so much more than that!

Thanks for the thorough review! Nicely done!

  7. Hi Peter,

I couldn’t agree with you more, I like the affiliate marketing business model as well. Plus I get to promote my own products too.

The idea of clicking on ads and filling out online surveys is a tedious job and I really don’t want to be investing my precious time into anything that’s not earning me a decent income.

Thanks for the great information 🙂

    • Thanks Gaylene, I’m glad you enjoyed the review. You will only make a consistent monthly income by having your own business. Thanks for stopping by:)

  8. Nick Hoyt

Hey Peter, you make a really good point when it comes to the hourly rate you can make doing these types of surveys. $0.60 an hour is WAY LOW! I’ve had a few friends that have made some money with surveys, but it does take a while…

For me, I think I’d be more interested in some of the other programs you referenced like Wealthy Affiliate that does affiliate marketing.

Have you been pretty happy with them?

    • Hi Nick, all I can say is that Wealthy Affiliate is where I got my start and I’m still there after almost two years. I have been very happy with them, especially all the help and support I get. Thanks for dropping by:)

  9. I have only briefly heard about Clixsense before but never knew all this. And swagbucks, I’ve tried them but like you said it is very slow accumulating money… I agree there are much better options out there like the ones you’ve suggested. What a great website for anyone learning to earn an income online. Thanks for a good read!

  10. Brandon

I’ve tried Clixsense before, a few years ago actually. Even though I was active everyday, I was only making pennies and it wasn’t really allowing me to quit my day job. One thing I did enjoy about Clixsense was the game, the exact one that you mentioned. However, other than that, I don’t really like the website, for the simple fact that it takes WAY too long to make any money.

Thanks for the great review, very well done 🙂

  11. Robert Prescott

I have been a member of ClixSense for about a year now and have made about $40. I can generally make 50 cents to a dollar for an hours worth of clicking, and I never do any of the surveys. I find them to be a total waste of time.

But for a simple mindless task of clicking while watching TV during commercials it is not bad. But perhaps I will try out Swagbucks. It sounds interesting, especially if I can get an Amazon gift card.

    • Thanks for sharing your Clixsense experience with us Robert. That is a really low payout ratio for sure. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  12. John

After trying another Click site, I do not think you can get a ROI for your time. You can make money, it does take time to get a payout, you just have to be bored to want to do this while watching TV, there is just not enough money for the amount of time you have to invest.
Although the affiliate marketing will take a little time for a payout also, the amount of the payout for your time invested will be many times that of the click sites if you stay with it.

    • Hi John, yes that has been my experience too. Money does not equal a steady income. That’s the whole idea of owning your own business. Thanks for dropping by:)

  13. Great detailed review, I think click ads is a very low income provider but at the same time offers something to people wanting to earn a little extra cash to pay a utility bill or something. Wealthy Affiliate is the way forward I would recommend this to anyone.

  14. Melissa Bennett

I actually looked in to trying to make money by clicking on ads and it was definitely not worth it! You did a great job explaining just how hard it can be to earn any decent amount of money. Thanks for the post!

    • Hi Melissa, yes you can make some money but almost impossible to generate that consistent monthly income most Internet Marketers are looking for.

  15. Hey, Peter!

Great and very informative article! I’m a new guy at this stuff so to read others opinions and experiences are very useful for me. Thanks!
